About : The unprecedented development in the science and technology of computing in the last decades opened up tremendous possibilities. It became clear that computing and simulation are going to play critical and enabling roles in addressing many complex problems of scientific significance and societal benefits. Quick to realize this development, CSIR decided to formulate an action plan for harnessing this emerging technology. It was thus that C-MMACS was conceived. It began functioning as a Centre in 1988.
